They have lines that balance economy with cleanability and those that use the latest technology to conserve energy and water. Bosch strives to create a functional dishwasher with the technology to meet the demands of fast-paced life.
Key Considerations
Types of Dishwashers
Bosch classifies its dishwashers by the location of the control panel and the size of the unit.
- Front Panel
The name says it all: the control panel on these models is on the front of the door. This gives easy access and allows you to see the settings while the dishwasher is running. Its appearance is not as elegant as the top panel designs, but for many, the ability to check the settings while the dishwasher is in use is invaluable.
- Top Panel
The top panel controls are hidden in the top of the door, and remain hidden while the dishwasher is running. If you want something elegant and minimal, one of these models is the way to go. Some designs have a TFT screen that shows the setting and time left in the cycle.
- Custom Panel
Custom panel dishwashers come with the option of a custom front panel/door that looks like a cabinet door instead of a dishwasher to match your kitchen decor. They are technically a type of top panel model. However, customization costs more.
- Compact
Do you want luxury in the confines of limited living space? You're in luck—Bosch makes compact 18-inch-wide models with the same features as their full-size 24-inch dishwashers.
Characteristic
Rack System
- Standard Third Shelf
The standard Bosch third rack system includes a third rack at the top of the dishwasher designed for cutlery and cookware. It includes a V-shaped space for a few taller items, but is really designed to open up space on the other two shelves by relocating cutlery.
- MyWay Shelf
If you need more space than a standard third rack offers, the next step in Bosch's third rack systems is the MyWay rack. Includes a third rack at the top of the dishwasher designed for bowls and other deep dishware. Moving these hard-to-stack items from the other two shelves opens up significant space for pots, pans, or more dishes.
- Third Flexible Grid
The flexible third rack system includes a third rack on top of the dishwasher for deep items like bowls, but also includes adjustable tines. This system gives you the possibility to customize the capacity and placement according to the needs of each load.
- VarioDrawerPro
The VarioDrawerPro is a third rack with folding sides to give you more custom loading options. Often found on models that include adjustable tines on all shelves so you can customize the configuration for each load.
- RackMatic
The RackMatic feature allows you to adjust the position and angle of the second and third racks. The second shelf can be raised or lowered, while the top shelf can be lowered, raised, or tilted to accommodate items on the lower shelves. Models with this feature can have up to nine possible shelf positions.
Cycle Options
Although most dishes clean adequately with the Auto Cycle, there are circumstances where you may need some additional options.
Glass Cycle : This cycle has lower water pressure and temperature to protect delicate glassware. If you regularly entertain or often use glassware, this cycle is for you.
Sanitize : A normal cycle will sanitize, but if you're looking for a cycle with extra heat, the sanitize cycle increases the temperature and drying time to target and kill bacteria.
Eco Cycle : Are you trying to reduce your carbon footprint? The green cycle uses less water and energy, saving the environment... and money on operating expenses.
Extra Dry : This cycle has a higher drying temperature to decrease drying time.
ExtraWash : Hard and dry foods may need extra help. This cycle is designed to carry out the harshest of disasters.
SpeedPerfect : in a hurry? This cycle cleans in 25% less time, although it does not work on very dirty dishes.
Smart Features and Remote Control
Some Bosch dishwashers have a Home Connect feature that allows you to control the dishwasher via phone or tablet, giving you effective remote control. You can start or stop the cycle from anywhere and be notified if there's a leak or other problem. This feature also alerts you when the dishwasher needs a detergent refill. You can even set it to automatically order detergent from Amazon when it runs out of stock.
Handle Design
Some Bosch lines have different drive options. Most of the time, it's a matter of aesthetics or personal preference, but it can also be a matter of what your kids are least likely to grab when they're in the kitchen.
Bar : A simple bar protrudes from the front of the dishwasher door. You may want to choose something else if you have small children who are climbers or can open the door.
Custom : If you want to customize the handle to match your kitchen, you can order custom handles and front panels.
Pocket : Pocket handles are found on top control models only. It's is a rectangular cutout that fits perfectly in modern and minimalist kitchens.
Ornate : A recessed handle is similar to a pocket handle, except it is found in front panel designs. It is a rectangular or semicircular cutout, either above or below the control panel. When it comes to front panel designs, a recessed handle is the most elegant option as it leaves nothing protruding from the dishwasher.
Scoop : Scoop handles are only found on top panel models and have a semi-circle “scoop” recessed into the door.
Information Light
Bosch dishwashers’ impressively quiet performance can leave you wondering if they’re working. Some models have a red information light that shines on the ground to let you know if it's working.
Low Decibels
Bosch dishwashers are known for their low decibels. There are three sound ratings available:
- Silent : 47 to 50 decibels
- Super Silence : 42 to 46 decibels
- SuperSilencePlus : 38 to 41 decibels
Keep in mind that the lower the decibel level, the more expensive the dishwasher will be.
24/7 Aqua Stop
The Aquastop system prevents leaks by detecting leaks or cracks in the base of the dishwasher. Once detected, the dishwasher automatically shuts off, potentially saving you from a wet mess.
TFT screen
Some top panel models have a high definition TFT display where cycle and time information is visible at all times. These displays have large, clearly defined text to keep you informed of where your dishes are in the cycle.
Finish
Bosch remains fashionable and up-to-date in its finishes:
- Black
- Black Stainless Steel

Tips
The Bosch Home Connect feature allows you to connect your dishwasher with Bosch diagnostic equipment that can remotely check the dishwasher systems. Although they can't fix everything remotely, they can tell you how to best fix any problem.
Some models are designed to be used with a water softener to help remove water stains.
When loading large or tall objects, make sure they do not block the sprayer arms. Models with a RackMatic feature allow the middle shelf to be raised or lowered to make room for these items. Models with adjustable tines also allow you to accommodate awkwardly sized cookware.
